The Chernobyl 1986 Netflix movie brings up one of the myths of the Chernobyl nuclear accident that it was possible for there to have been an even larger secondary steam explosion and only the heroic acts of the soviet volunteers prevented it. In truth the worse case reactor explosion had already occurred and an additional steam release would not have changed the total amount of radioactivity released by that much.

Also in real life, the true heroes who released the water survived their task which was probably unnecessary. Much of the remediation other than dealing with the reactor core and core materials was unnecessary an caused unnecessary exposure to hundreds of thousands of workers.
