Bishkek’s Main Department of the Internal Affairs reported that 40 supporters of the ex-president Almazbek Atambayev were detained during the riots in the Kyrgyz capital. “The police detained 40 offenders. The proceedings are underway.” – TASS quoted the department. The department added that the identies of the instigators of the riots are being established. The department also reported that at least 1,500 people tried to organize riots in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, on the night of 9th of August. According to the department – the participants tried to break into the parliament building, shopping centers and supermarkets. They also blocked the roads.
On Friday night, in the Turkish district of Reyhanli, near the border with Syria, a series of explosions took place inside an ammo depot – the NTV reports. The residents of the nearby territories were evacuated. The roads to the damaged depot are currently blocked – TASS reports. The rescuers, doctors and police officers were sent to the area. Senator Vladimir Dzhabarov, while commenting on this detail, called it a ‘violation of the Olympic map’, and ‘an unnecessary escalation of the relations of the two states’. He added that the topic of the Kuril Islands isn’t a subject of discussion. If Japan is determined to sign a peace treaty – such actions don’t bring that moment closer. According to him, after this incident, the Russian Foreign Ministry will, most likely, send a note of protest to Japan.
The Egyptian security forces eliminated 17 terrorists that, according to the police, were involved in the explosion in the city of Cairo on Sunday – Interfax reports while citing a statement from the Egyptian Interior Ministry. All those terrorists were in the armed wing of the ‘Hasm’ group, associated with the “Muslim Brotherhood”, which is outlawed in the country. As a result of a collision of several cars in the center of Cairo on Sunday evening – an explosion took place. As a result, 20 people died, 47 were injured. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi qualified the incident as a terrorist attack. As the investigation established – one of the cars was hijacked. The car carried some explosives. According to the investigation, in the future, this car was planned to be used for a large-scale terrorist attack.
South Korea and the USA will continue to ensure the freedom of the Indo-Pacific region – said the US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, who is currently in Seoul, for a two-day visit. “The alliance between the Republic of Korea and the United States is strong, and it remains to be the guarantee of the peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and in the North-east Asia. In addition, the participation of South Korea in the US-made international coalition, aimed to ensure the safety of the navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, will be discussed as well.
